The B-7 light freighter is an older type of freighter, manufactured by Loronar Corporation during the height of the Galactic Empire. As the B-7 is a small freighter, it can only hold up 50 metric tons, but which is quite adequate for a size of only 19 meters. The ship is very slow and is only equipped with a light Laser Cannon for defense. However the ship has a strong hull and shields. Today the B-7 light freighter is only available used, but it's quite cheap and can easily be modified.

Taking one last look up at the bulking Akula hanging in orbit, Nubis walked up the boarding ramp of his famed B-7 freighter, the Imperium. There it was, the massive extent of the ship just barely visible through the haze of the Coruscanti atmosphere. The Akula was Nubis' second and last commission in the Empire and there it hung over him like a dark cloud might hang over someone who lost their favorite pet. Nubis had just left the Empire. A retirement, which Nubis thought, couldn't have come sooner.

Boarding the Imperium once more, a wave of nostalgia hit Nubis square in the chest. The last time he had seen his ship was when he had come to Corsucant to become an officer in the Imperial Navy, before the war went quiet. He quickly scanned the cabin with pride. This was home and would be home again. Nubis was happy, if for anything, about that.

Taking his seat in the pilot's chair, he sensed the approach of Daryk Pall, the man who had served under him as executive onboard the Akula. Pall had decided that his time in the Empire had come to a close as well. Nubis was quick to offer Pall a job on his ship and Pall was just as quick to accept. The two could sense eachothers actions before they happened. Something, Nubis thought, that would come in handy somehow.

"Buckle yourself in, Daryk. I haven't touched these controls in a while, you know. Don't know how she's gonna handle."

All Daryk could afford was a smile.

Outside, the cool dusk air of Coruscant was helped along by a light breeze, the smell of a thousand different cultures riding on the tip of the wave. Nubis longed for his modest home back on Dantooine. The Imperium lurched from the landing pad with a series of hisses. Hovering, Nubis brought the nose around into traffic and eased her in. After programming in the destination codes and clearance out of the Imperial Palace grounds, Nubis picked himself up from the pilot's seat and strode into the main cabin. In the back, Nubis hopped into his bunk and closed his eyes.

...those eyes were burning, digging into his own. No matter how hard he tried to turn away, no matter which way he looked, those eyes - her eyes were there staring back. Nubis made a run for it, trying to dodge a volley of blaster fire comming from the blue-skinned woman. He was too late. With a searing heat, Nubis grabbed his leg. The pain was unbearable. To make matters worse -

Nubis awoke with a start as the sound of the ship's navigation alarm sounded. Daryk fell asleep, he thought. Rubbing his eyes, Nubis got up from his bunk and walked grogily to the cockpit. There he found Daryk frantically searching for the source of the alarm. With the flick of a switch, Nubis silenced it and slumped into his chair. Through the viewport, the center of the Coruscanti entertianment district came streaming in with stark glares from the sunlight. How long have I been asleep?

"Next time," Nubis said, "you flick this here. Just an alarm to let you know that you've reached your destination."

"Ah, okay. I see," Daryk said. He looked lost.

"Well, now that we're here, how's about a drink? Some brandy?"

"Sure, Nubis. Where to?"

"Take her to the Tops Bar," Nubis said, pointing to a rather plush looking joint on the pinnicle of what appeared to be a ritzy hotel. "You'll love this place."

Grabbing the controls, Daryk eased the Imperium onto an awaiting pad. A perfect landing, Nubis thought, for someone who's spent their life in the innards of capital ships.

Boarding the Imperium, Nubis smiled up the ramp at Daryk, who had now noticed Nubis' failure to bring any form of brandy at all. Sensing this, Nubis quickly handed off the ale which he was still carrying. "Here, take this."

All Daryk could muster was a half-grin. "This is our new guest, then?"

Nubis, getting the hint, introduced his new friend. "Yes," he said, "this is Arlyn. She will be with us indefinately. Treat her like you would treat me."

Daryk nodded with what looked like contempt. He shook the woman's hand then left for the cockpit. Nubis turned to Arlyn and motioned her to the back row of bunks. "You can sleep there," he said. "In the meantime, make yourself comfortable. We will be getting under way soon."

There was yet another stoic look on the woman's face. This might take a while, Nubis thought.

"During the trip, you will undergo the initiation. From this moment on, you are at the disposal of the Illuminatum."

The Imperium lifted from the landing pad outside Tops Bar and thrusted itself into a fast-moving traffic pattern heading, as the woman noticed, towards a large complex adjacent to the Imperial Palace.

"Here you are," Nubis said to Arlyn as the Imperium touched down on a landing platform outside the Imperial Ministry of State. "You know your purpose, now prove yourself loyal."

Arlyn looked up the ramp at the uniformed figure of Nubis standing in the hatchway. "I understand."

"Good," Nubis said with a smile. "I leave you to it then. When you have completed your assignment, a B-7 transport will be waiting for you here, the Right Hand. It is to be your ship from this point on."

Nubis punched a button on the door console and the hatch shut instantly, leaving the stoic woman on the landing pad. Leaving the doorway, Nubis walked up to the cockpit where Daryk had taken command of the ship. "Okay, Daryk," he said, "take us out."

"Sure thing, Boss."

The Imperium wound its way through traffic and found its place in an outbound lane. In the cabin, Nubis took a seat at a table in his small room and began going through a stack datacards.

Standing up from his table, Nubis crossed the cabin to the bar, took a glass from the counter and filled it with water. This simply won't do, he thought. Water is for the lower classes. He was nervously sweating and slightly hard of breath.

Putting down the glass, he made his way through the interior of the cabin to the cockpit. Daryk was at the controls guiding the Imperium through a somewhat empty traffic lane. "Oh hey, Nubis! About time you got up here."

Nubis had to remind himself why he had come to the cockpit. This man, as Nubis decided, could become a liability, a term he was becoming more and more familiar with. He pushed the thought away, yet it came right back.

"Nubis?" Daryk begged, still at the controls.

"I'm sorry, Daryk. I truly am, but there is no other choice."

"What are you talking about, Nubis? What do you mean?"

Without answering and keeping his eyes locked on Daryk's, Nubis unholstered the blaster at his side and aimed it at his friend. One shot was all it took for the man to crumple to the floor.

Nubis quickly took the controls of the ship, guiding it aside to hover next to a rather tall skyscraper. Pulling Daryk's lifeless body behind him, he crossed into the cabin and up to the main hatch where he hit a button to open the door. It hissed and slid to the side, leaving a gaping hole in the where Nubis could feel the Coruscant breeze hit him and look down into the depths of the city. With a slight effort, he tossed the body out the side, not looking as it made its descent.

Casually closing the door, Nubis went back to the cockpit, taking the controls. The Imperium hummed off on its way once more.

...the eyes were on him once more. She was following him to a bar at the top of tall building, an elegant place with plants and displays from worlds all over the galaxy. Nubis took a seat at his table, looking nervously around. There she was. Her eyes were still on him from across the room. With a rush of sound, the ghostly eyes darted at Nubis hitting him in the chest.

Gasping for air, Nubis woke, hitting his head on the cabinet above the headboard. He coughed. This was the fourth dream like this since he left the Empire and they were becoming intollerable. Yet something about it seemed familiar to him. The eyes, although horrific and ghastly, also comforted him. It left Nubis with an odd feeling.

He picked himself up from his bed, putting on a robe drapped on the chair. My head is killing me, he thought rubbing the bump. Fastening the belt tightly, he walked into the main cabin, grabbed a glass of brandy, and crossed into the cockpit. Through the viewports, he could see why he woke. The ship had finally reached its destination. It was there, hanging snugly in the void of space. It was Ziost, the ancient planet known for being the center of the Sith Empire.

"It's prettier than I thought it'd be."

Nubis pushed a few buttons on the console then walked back into the main cabin, taking a seat on the small couch. The throbbing in his head still hadn't gone away. Sipping his brandy, he called on the holovid. A news program materialized on the screen making mention of a murdered retiree from the Imperial Navy. That was quick, he thought.

Leaving the brandy on the table, he walked back to his room to change. Meanwhile, the Imperium sped towards the surface of the Sith world below.

The B-7 Imperium is now at Ziost.

The slim transport lowered itself on the surface of Ziost, kicking up dust and dirt as the repulsorlifts got closer to the ground. With a slight struggle and a hiss, the boarding ramp unlocked and descended to the ground, thudding as it hit. At the top of the ramp stood Nubis Serin. Clad in his nicely pressed uniform, he made his way down, feeling the warm Ziost air hitting him. He took a deep breath. You can almost feel the history here.

Sounds of distant avians could be heard among the trees, for Ziost is now covered in an ancient Sith forest. Nubis stepped off the ramp and onto the soft ground. Looking up, Nubis could barely make out the tops of the trees. He took another deep breath. This will be perfect, he thought.

He reaced down to his pocket and pulled out a small datapad. Clicking it on, he tapped a few commands. From a small slot on the back, he removed a datacard and placed it into a slightly larger holoprojector. Nubis placed the projector on the ground in front of him and turned it on. From the top came the image of a pyramid. Rotating on a central axis, the pyramid represented the Illuminatum. Nubis had placed claim on Ziost.

"This will do nicely indeed," he said, walking into the edge of the forest. In the distance, Nubis could hear the sound of waterfalls.

Ziost has been claimed by the Illuminatum.

Nubis sat, fists clenched, on a chair in the main cabin of the Imperium. There was a burning sensation in his fingers and stomach. Sweat dripped from his forehead. He grabbed his stomach, dropping to the floor and writhing in pain. Blood began to drip down the side of his mouth. The taste was almost appetizing. Nubis convulsed, spitting blood out onto the floor. He began shaking violently.

He must punished, Nubis, a familiar, booming voice rang in his head. You must kill him and make him pay for his crimes. Do not sit by and allow it to continue or you will suffer along with him.

More and more blood continued to pour from Nubis' mouth. He was begining to choke, coughing and sputtering while trying to maintain his breath. "Who are you," he begged, coughing.

That will be answered in time, Nubis. For now, all you must know is that you have been gifted with the use of the Force. You are now counted amongst the ranks of the Sith. Soon, I will reveal to you who I am and what my purpose is. Just know that you are special, Nubis. You are my tool in ridding the galaxy of its filth.

The shaking stopped. Instantly, Nubis felt better, the blood ceasing to pour from his mouth. "Yes, I will do as you say," he said, picking himself up from the floor. "I will do anything you say, Master."

Nubis waited for a reply. There was none. He wiped the blood from his lips and onto a napkin from the table. The taste of blood was still in his mouth and strangely, he enjoyed it. He licked the napkin, tasting the blood he had just wipped off. It was delicious.

There was a new feeling, one Nubis was not prepared for. Suddenly, he felt as if the light had finally been turned on in a dark room - as if he could truly see for the first time. The presence of everything was around him made itself known. He could feel the avians outside above the ship. He could feel the presence of the insects crawling along the forest floor. But what suprised him most was the presence of a single being, far across the void of space. Dark and red, the presence glowed, calling to him.

He walked into the cockpit, taking a seat in the pilot's chair. Nubis keyed in several commands, grabbed the controls, and pulled the ship from the surface. The Imperium broke through the atmosphere and into space, leaving behind it the Illuminatum's new claim.

The B-7 Imperium is now at Contruum.

Staggering up the ramp, Nubis was still clutching his stomach, thankful that the pain was gone. However, the memory of the pain was still imprinted in his thoughts, making him uneasy and feeling sick. The blood on his uniform was drying out now. Nubis looked as if he'd just gotten out of surgery. He made it to the cockpit and slumped himself into the pilot's chair. What did I do to deserve this? Why me?

He unbuttoned his jacket and threw it on the co-pilot chair next to him. His black undershirt looked quite clean compared to the smothered jacket. There was a short moment of relief and comfort. It quickly subsided.

Nubis Titus Serin of Dantooine. Follow my voice.

Nubis was shocked, the booming voice was back sooner than he expected. He clutched his ears, pressing them hard as if he could ever block out the sound of that voice.

Follow, Nubis Titus Serin. Follow.

He pressed harder, his head began to ache with the tension. If he kept up, he'd hurt himself more than the voice did. Still holding onto his ears, he followed the voice into the main cabin, past the couch and bar to the back wall. On the floor, he found two items. The first, a long silvery sword with intricate detailing and stunning imagery which Nubis recognized from the chambers on Ziost. The other was a small, translucent, red pyramid. He bent down and picked up, forgetting that his head hurt. It fit perfectly in his hand, almost so that it seemed the small object was made for just for him.

This, Nubis Titus Serin, is my Holocron. From it you will gain knowledge invaluable to our cause and your destiny. Inside, is the gateway to victory.

Nubis examined the little pyramid closer, noticing the writing along the edges. He was struck with a slight feeling of shock. He could read it. Nubis could read Sithese.

The Imperium came out of hyperspace with the usual burst of sound, slowing to a crawl above Corsucant. It glittered below, spinning to reveal all of its wonder. Nubis was always taken aback by the awe Corsucant imposed. It's a wonder I don't live here, he thought, guiding the ship down into a major traffic lane towards the surface.

He keyed the several commands into the console and got up from the chair. The ship would take itself to the destination, leaving Nubis free to do as he pleased. Right now, that meant examining his new toys.

The holocron sat alone on the glass table in the main cabin, it's reflection casting a red hue onto the glass. He walked over to it and picked it up, fitting it snugly into his palm. It was a beautiful artifact. One which represented not only the Sith, but a day when craftsmanship was a high priority in everything.

Open it, a voice in his head said soothingly.

"I do not know how, Master. Please, tell me."

Release your anxiety, Nubis Titus Serin. Feel yourself opening it and it will do so.

Nubis wasn't quite sure what that meant, but he tried anyway. He pushed aside any thoughts, any thoughts not having to do with opening the holocron. For the first time in a long while, Nubis felt at ease. His emotions were pure, his thoughts clean. In his mind, he picture himself focusing his energies on the holocron, forcing his essence outward and through it. He opened his eyes.

Before him, in his hand, the small object glowed and cracked open. The sides dropped outward, forming a star. From the middle, a red light thrust upward revealing a familiar face. It was the same face Nubis had seen on Ziost in the chamber.

"Excellent, Nubis Titus Serin. You have done what many could not. As your reward, I will reveal to you what it is you want to know."

The B-7 Imperium is now at Coruscant.

"Who are you? What do you want with me," Nubis asked, kneeling to the floor. He was almost weeping.

"I am none other than Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Bane. Your purpose, Nubis Titus Serin, is to help me in my quest to unite the galaxy."

Something was out of place. Nubis knew Sith history quite well. He had read countless datacards on the Sith when he lived on Dantooine. There was always time to read. How could Nubis be of any use to a Sith Lord? It was impossible to think that someone as powerful as Bane would call upon insignificant Nubis.

"I don't know anything anymore, Lord Bane. I have forgotten who I was before all of this. Why did you do this to me?"

There was an eerie silence followed by the sound of the ship's navigation panel chiming to let Nubis know it had arrived at the commanded destination. He thought for a moment then turned his attention back to the flat star.

"You are being rewarded, Nubis Titus Serin, for releasing my spirit. Do not assume you are punished. Who you were before finding me is irrelevant. I am you now. I am all you need now."

The thought disgusted Nubis. This spirit in his hand was telling him things Nubis did not want to hear. Servitude. No, he did not like the thought one bit, but he suddenly remembered the pain in his stomach, the blood pouring out from inside him, the attachment to this voice, and the constant taste of blood. The taste. It was almost as if he was addicted to it. He mustered up some willpower and spoke finally.

"I am yours to command, Lord Bane."

Nubis flicked a small lever on the Imperium's control console. The ship pitched to the left and darted away from the Coruscanti surface. In front of it, the omni-present Imperial defenses and the sprinkling of traffic buzzing in and out of dedicated lanes played a mechanical symphony.

In the cabin behind him, the Sith artifacts, which had mysteriously appeared onboard the ship, lay on the glass table, the Holocron having been closed for the time being. Nubis decided that it would be best to practice the Sith Lord's trainings closer to home. Home. At that very moment, Nubis couldn't tell where home was. He knew he had been born on Dantooine and then spent most of his life as a crewman on Dag Debremis' ship, but there was also a connection to Ziost, a connection he could not avoid.

What am I doing, he thought, making the final adjustments to the navicomputer. I don't even know who I am anymore.

Upon the very thought, there was a sudden surge of comfort that flowed through his entire body. It was completely unexplainable, but Nubis didn't care. He welcomed the feeling even if it was artificial.

He pushed a lever forward, breathing a heavy sigh. The windows filled with streaks and then soft blue clouds, swirling around reminding Nubis of summer seasons on Dantooine. He got up from the pilot's chair and walked back into the ship. With a quick glance at the artifacts on the table, he crossed into his small quarters and laid down on the bed. It seemed, at this point, there was nothing left he could do but listen and obey.

The B-7 Imperium is now at Ziost.
