Rebel Base - Trainee Barracks

[David Hunt]

David Hunt wandered inside the room where he and his fellow trainee group had been billeted. He threw his pack onto one of the top bunks, and then hopped up onto the small beds, if you could call it a bed, more of a small mat on a metal frame. Anyway, he was sure that the accommodations would improve once he had completed the training. Yeah, this is probably to toughen us up… he though to himself. After testing the bed, he got back down, and opened the small cabinet that would hold all his clothes and the uniforms he was no doubt going to be imminently issued with. Not that he had many civilian clothes, only the clothes he had on just now plus a small jacket – that he was certain he wouldn’t need on this planet somehow – and a few T-shirts.
He was unsure as to when his training would begin, and who the instructor would be. Regardless, he was proud to be signing up for the Alliance, no matter what he would be doing. It probably wouldn’t be combat anyway, as the Peace treaty had been signed with the Imps. Then again, they could be going to war with the DRWP or any of the other smaller factions out there. He was excited about what could happen, about what lay ahead. No matter what.

Tanya knocked on the barracks door and walked in. The trainees inside stood to attention, Tanya scanned the room and found the man she wanted, “Hunt?” She asked.

David bolted to attention, as the CinC of the Alliance entered the room. After her inquiry, David answered, "Yes ma'am?" Wondering why she could possibly be looking for him.

David's face went from curious to contorted in an instant. "You, want my help... To lead a fleet? Im a trainee... not an Admiral, remember? Umm, ma'am."
He thought back to when he was a Vice Admiral with the then Rebel Navy, he had foolishly resigned and managed to slip past the Imp security and join up without being recognised as the Rebel he once was.
After a while he grew sick of the ruthless Imperial tactics, and defected to the DRWP, who was eager to hire experienced officers. They had given him the rank of Grand Commodore, however unfortunately after his blunder on the Battlestar project, he had been disgraced and had left promptly.
Bringing him to today. He had rejoined the Alliance, but had been forced to rejoin as a raw recruit.
David snapped out of his thoughts, and concentrated on the conversation at hand.

“You are the most qualified person available,” Tanya explained, “Lets just call it… advanced training.” Tanya smiled, “well come on! The fleet is in orbit!” Tanya grabbed the young man’s hand and pulled him out the door.

"Right," David uttered, as he was pulled out the door. "So umm, how do you expect officers to react to a Trainee giving them orders?" David continued on down the corridor, following Tanya.

“I am temporarily giving you the rank of Acting Vice Admiral. You sleep in a nice bed and give orders, but in a crisis you receive them ok?” Tanya said boarding the shuttle taking them to the command ship of the fleet.

Tanya and David are on the MC80 Daring.
