Leia looked up for a moment, just long enough to see her husband and brother trailing behind a nurse. The dirty transparasteel door slid aside to allow the entry of Han and the attendant, but slammed shut when Luke attempted to walk in to the antechamber.

Meanwhile, other nurse droids were pleading with the brown-haired mother-to-be. She reluctantly lied down upon the padded slab. Leia smoothed out the wrinkles in the medical garment the nurses had fitted her in.

She gave a glance back toward the door. Han was now walking into the narthex of the small corridor that lead into even smaller medical rooms. He, of course, was approaching the modest area dedicated to her. Luke was still seen through the far door, arguing with yet another nurse.

Han approached the bedside and Leia grabbed his hand. “Han,” She said with a nervous smile, in both greeting and prompt. “I want Luke here. Pl-please, make sure he gets here.” Leia added, and, to her surprise, found herself crying.

She was worried.

When Han finally mustered the strength to find his voice, the nurses and attendants escorting him and Luke to Leia would not allow him to get a word in edge-wise. He would open his mouth to speak, but would be quickly silenced by a clasp on the shoulder by a nurse and a gentle, 'Everything will be fine. No worries.'

Well, they would be helpful if that was the question Han was going to ask, but it was far from it. Personally, these nurses flocking around him were beginning to get irritating. All he wanted to do was be at Leia's side.

They passed through another doorway into a small corridor which led into the personal medical rooms. Before entering Leia's designated room, an attendant shoved some medical scrubs into his face.

The attendant backed up slightly at the glare shot in her direction. "I'm sorry, General, but everyone must wear them to enter the maternity. It's for both the protection of the mother and child."

Han could only grumble as he quickly through the garment on and entered the sterilized room. His eyes searched the room and found Leia already situated on the padded bed, droids, doctors and nurses hovering all around her.

Crossing the short distance to the bed, Han glanced down into his wife's now pale face. Even with the strain and in his opinion, agony, she was about to endure, her face was unchanging. He could only smile.

Leia quickly reached up and took his hand. Intertwining his fingers with hers, Han squeezed to reassure that everything would be okay.

“Han, I want Luke here. Pl-please, make sure he gets here.”

"Luke?" Han's face contorted in confusion and glanced over his shoulder. He had forgotten all about Luke as he was quickly ushered to this spot, and sure enough, the kid was nowhere to be found.

Turning back to his wife, he added, "Yea, yea...I can get him. Just...hang on..."

He slipped his hand out of hers and started to back up out of the room. Shoving his way by a group of droids, he walked back out into the corridor to where Luke was standing - or arguing with the nurses.

Han figured this would take some persusion, but nothing extensive. Stepping between the nurses gathered and his long time friend, Han cleared his throat to stop the exchanges already taking place.

"What's the matter with you people? Not allowing the brother of the mother to see his nephew?" Han started to usher Luke through the door as he spoke.

Ignoring the skeptical glances he was getting from the Jedi, Han continued rambling until the nurses were out of clear earshot. "Well, that was easier than I thought."

Luke shook his head with a smirk plastered on his face as they reentered Leia's room.

Leia screamed out as the intense pain that filled her body pinnacled into another unbearable pressure.

"It's alright, ma'am," The annoying doctor said. "You're doing fine."

She felt like punching him out, but had the feeling that in her present condition, it wouldn't be of much use. She had been doing this for so long now, it was becoming a painful routine quickly. The doctor was nothing more than an annoyance now. Everyone in this room was an annoyance.

Han took her hand and leaned at the side of the medical bed. "You're doing great, sweetheart," He soothed. Even her husband was becoming an annoyance. "It'll be over before you know it."

Hah! That's what they said when this whole thing started! It already seemed way past "before you know it." It seemed more like an eternity in each of the seven hells.

Finally, the pain rushed out of her, allowing her to catch up with her breathing, which Leia had been neglecting. It didn't do much good, anyway...every time was getting worse and with less time to recover.

Speaking of which, the pain returned. She groaned out again in preparation for the next round against the monster infesting her. Leia was really beginning to regret this. Han was so dead...

"And...push!" Yelled the doctor, commanding her to do the same thing she'd been doing for the past....Leia wasn't even keeping track anymore. She just wanted it all to be over. For some reason, something was nagging the back of her mind...something had to be wrong.

"That's it," Han reassured, looking away as his wife once again yelled out in pain.

Time passed, more of the same. The doctor yelled his spiel out again a few times to no avail. She didn't even feel anything happening aside from more and more pain! Just come out already, demon child!

"The baby is starting to crown, Madame Chief of State" The medical chief said as he reviewed the medscanner. "You're doing fine."

I've been "doing fine" since this all started, you fruit! Leia yelled internally.

"Push!" The doctor yelled again. She could her Han arguing with him in the background.

"You said it was crowning, how much more does she have to do?!"

"She has to get the rest of the baby out."

"I CAN'T KEEP PUSHING!" An exasperated and exhausted Leia screamed out, breaking the arguement up.

Another piercing cry reverberated through Han's eardrums as Leia cried out again in agony. Clenching his teeth, he turned and shot the doctor a deadly glare. The man was getting on his nerves for not only forcing him to endure torture such as that of Leia screaming at the top of her lungs, but for remaining unnaturally calm throughout the whole procedure.

"Godsdammit, she said she can't push anymore!" his voice becoming hoarse from trying to be heard over Leia.

The stoudt medic didn't even flinch but remained at Leia's feet, determined to stay focused. "She has to." He then seemed to tune Han out completely, turning his attention once more onto his wife. "Just one more push, ma'am and you'll get the head out..."

Determined to get answers and to put an end to all the screaming, Han pushed the doctor again. "You know, you don't help much. Who assigned you to be a medic--"

"I-CAN--CAN'T!"

Han flinched for what seemed like the one hundreth time. His retort had been drowned out by Leia's screams and the doctor continued on with his task - obviously not hearing a word he had said. Han wanted to strangle him more than anything.

"Ugh!" Leia cried out again.

Turning back to his wife, Han squeezed her hand once again for reassurance. "Tell me what you want me to do." His voice had softened considerably and he added a small smile to try and relax her.

The glare she shot back at him looked anything but relaxed. "Do something!"

The doctor was shaking his head and repositioning himself. "Uh, ma'am, that baby still needs to get its head out." He looked up at the mother-to-be and smiled. "For your child...please, push."

Han could tell she was stiffling another scream and braced himself for the inevitable. "IT WON'T HELP IF I-I DIE BEFORE I CAN---GET HIM OUT!"

"Leia!" He was clearly surprised and he had to admit, shocked to hear his princess say something so out-of-character.

The damn medic intervened again before Han could continue on. "You won't die, ma'am." Ugh, his voice was so irritating and calm, Han wanted to punch him. "You're doing just fine. This is actually quite normal."

"This is NOT normal, you FREAK!" She closed her eyes again to prepare herself for another round of pain.

Han could only smile. Now this was his princess - not lettin' anyone get in her way.

Then just as quickly as he could draw his blaster from its holster, Han's whole world came toppling down onto him. A sheer alarm starting sounding from one of the various medical machines scattered around the small room. Medical droids started talking amongst themselves in their own robotic language and shuffled about to tend to different instruments. The attendants exchanged glances, looked at Han with what looked like an expression of pity then just as quickly, turned away.

Even the doctor showed emotion other than happiness and composure. It was a look that Han didn't want to see in a million lightyears - the look of horror. Moving more quickly than what his size would let on, the doctor rose from the foot of the bed to the instrument emitting the irritating sound.

Rubbing a hand over his now sweaty face, Han looked into the face of Leia. Her expression mirrored his in an unsettling way - it was the look of a parent terrifed and concerned for the survival of their child. Not being able to face reality just yet, he tore his gaze away from her to follow the movements of the doctor. "W-what the hell is that?! What's g-goin' on?!" his voice was surprisingly shaky.

Not turning to face Han or Leia, the doctor continued to soak in the data displayed on the screen. His brow furrowed in concern. "There's a problem..."

The color drained from Han's face. This couldn't be happening - not them, not now.

Turning back to his wife, Han nearly keeled over at the sight he saw. Leia was deathly pale and had fallen unconsious. Aside from the instruments attached to her taking her vital signs, it was hard to tell if she was even still alive. Han wanted to scream and tear the entire place apart at the same time. Leia!

The doctor turned quickly on his heel, facing Han with a serious expression. "I need to operate...now."

Han forced himself forward, moving away from Leia's bedside and into the face of the doctor. "W--what's wrong?!" The doctor just stared stupidly up at him, not totally sure how to answer the Corellian. "Dammit!" he screamed, losing his temper and resisting the urge to grab the stoudt man by the collar and shaking him uncontrollably. "Tell me!"

Other than a nervous twitching of his right eye, the doctor remained surprising calm. "With all due respect, I don't have time." He pushed past Han and back to Leia's bedside. "Either get out or put a mask on," he ordered, attaching his own surgical mask to his chubby face.

Han didn't really have any other choice. Grabbing a surgical mask from a rack on the wall, he attached it to his face and slowly swaggered back to Leia's side. He took her small hand into his and carressed it lightly. Hang in there, sweetheart. The Alliance needs you, your child needs you---I need you.

A light tap on the shoulder forced Han to look upward. The doctor was standing before him, ready to operate. "I need room, General. Please stand aside."

Reluctantly, Han stood and let go of Leia's hand. He knew tears were threatening to come. He could feel them beginning to burn his eyes, but he wouldn't let them fall. He had to keep up his personna and stay strong - stay strong for Leia.

The doctor and attendants moved in, blocking Leia from his view completely. Han was left to stare at the monitors following her vitals and hoping. For the first time in his life, Han Solo felt utterly helpless.

Luke placed his hand on his friend’s shoulder. “Its gonna be alright Han, the doctors know what they’re doing.”
Luke closed his eyes and concentrated hard on Leia, he needed to reach his sister through the force. He could find her, but she was faint, Hold on Leia, you’ll make it. You were right after all.

Han barely acknowledged Luke's comforting hand on his shoulder. He appreciated what his long time friend was trying to do and was grateful that he was by his side, but at this point in time, all he wanted was some time to himself to recollect his thoughts. Some time alone - with Leia.

Leia's condition had not changed in what seemed like hours, perhaps days. But in all reality, it had only been a matter of minutes. How all these attendants and even the irritating doctor himself could stay so calm, he'll never know.

"General Solo?" Han flinched slightly and snapped his head toward the new voice. Godsdammit, another attendant...

He must have acknowledged her in some way for she continued to speak. "The doctor requests that you and Jedi Skywalker vacant the patient's room."

Patient?! Vacant?! This is my wife! Han's eyes nearly bugged out of his head as he turned his full attention to the unsuspecting attendant. His expression quickly turned to a scowel. "I'm n-not goin' nowhere. I'm staying with my wife," his voice was muffled and had a slight edge to it from the surgical mask covering his face.

The attendant noticably swallowed in nervousness. "General, I know you wish to stay at your wife's side, but it's in her best interest that you leave. " She faltered slightly. "You will be right outside. If anything happens, you'll be the first to know."

"No. I'm staying here."

Shifting her weight, the young woman glanced behind her back for assistance before returning to face the Corellian. "I'm afraid that isn't an option--"

"Isn't an option?!" he exploded. "This is my wife's life you're talking about! S--she may not make it---and you're tellin' me I have to leave?!"

The attendant stepped back in surprise. At that same moment, Han felt that comforting hand on his shoulder again. Turning slightly, Han found himself looking into Luke's face.

Han didn't want to admit it, but what he saw in the kid's eyes was the right decision. After all these years, he would be a fool to not trust Luke's judgement. He has proven himself over and over again and Han was almost certain he would prove to be right here.

Reluctantly nodding his head in agreement, Han took one last look over to the raised bed to where Leia lay. His view was obstructed this time by all the droids, attendants and doctors gathered around. Not being able to take the sight before him any longer, Han turned his gaze to the stone floor.

Hang in there, sweetheart. Stay strong.

As the attendant led Luke and Han out of the room, a single tear managed to break through the facade and roll down the former smuggler's cheek.

Nicole had left the detention area with a grim expression on her face. She had just been told that Princess Leia was in a critical condition and so Ma’shi rushed to the medical bay.
“Luke?” Cole rushed over to him and grabbed his hands, “Luke, is everything ok?”

Cole and Luke had been an item since the mission to Hoth. Spending several weeks in such close contact had made them realise their true feelings for each other.

Luke felt Nicole grab his hands tight.
Luke, is everything ok?
Luke held her tight, resting his head on her shoulder. “It will be, either way things will work out.”

Dr. Elius M. Hewer slowly walked away from the operating room. He ran his hand, now with the bloodstained polymer glove removed, over his bald head, in deep thought and mired in worry and trepidation. The echoing sound of his shoes clicking on the duracrete didn't help any, instead, adding a foreboding feeling to his depressed mood.

Gods... How will I tell him? How will I tell both of them?

The corridor came to end too soon for the doctor. He stopped outside the door to the waiting room, his thoughts a maelstrom. He waited a few tense moments before he worked up the nerve to confront the man behind that door.

"Well?"

He looked up at Han Solo, a hero of the Rebel Alliance. This man helped destroy the first Death Star, which had annihilated Alderaan and Hewer's family. He fought at Hoth, and helped Princess Leia escape, only to fall into the clutches of Darth Vader. But he was back in time for the Battle of Endor: the engagement that nearly destroyed both the Empire and Alliance.

"Your wife is all right," Hewer said, and immediately saw relief wash over the general's features.

"And the kid?"

The doctor smiled a bittersweet smile. "Kids."

At Solo's odd look, he clarified. "The Chief of State had twins. A boy and a girl. They were delivered in the operation."

Then that chilling image came through the doctor's mind. Every patient he had lost before never compared to this...

"T-twins?" the Corellian stammered. Then he noticed a frown distorting Hewer's countenance. "Uh, then, what's wr-wrong?"

Hewer could back no more. He released a pained sigh, and did a doctor's hardest, and most cruel duty. "I'm sorry. The twins were born by Cesarean section. But--" he choked on the words. "But neither of them was the one that was crowning..."

"What?!" Solo hissed.

The aging physician took a shuddering breath."Sh-she lost a child."

The general turned away; then, running his hand through his hair, began to pace. The doctor tried to speak again. "General, I am so sorry--"

A fierce glare silenced him. "You said everything was all right," General Solo growled.

"We did everything we could," retorted Hewer defensively. "He was strangled by his umbilical cord."

"I want to see her," Solo said firmly.

The doctor wasn't going to argue. He directed the general back down the corridor to his wife. Upon entering the room where Chief of State Organa-Solo, he walked to the side of her bed and looked over some readouts. Getting the information he needed, he turned back to Solo. "She's still too frail to give her a stimulant."

Solo ignored the doctor, taking his wife's hand. Hewer couldn't help but watch.

Organa-Solo let out a slight moan, slowly entering consciousness on her own.

"You hear me?" the general asked softly.

Confusion and disorientation were clear in the woman's glazed eyes. "H-Han?"

"Yeah, I'm here."

"I-It's over?" she asked, and the doctor saw the muscles in her forearm tense as she squeezed Solo's hand.

With a nod, the recent father acknowledged. "Yeah, it's over."

A thin smile crossed Organa-Solo's lips, and was reciprocated. An overwhelming sense of loss crashed over Hewer, recollecting the birth of his children, and that thin smile, bursting with happiness tempered by exhaustion, on his own wife's countenance. All of that was lost now.

"W-Where is the baby?" the weakened woman asked.

"There's... two."

Disbelief, then revelation registered on the haggard expression of Leia Organa-Solo. "Oh-oh gods..."

Now the general did smile. "Twins."

Hewer tried to speak, one final duty to perform. But the lump in his throat nearly prevented him. "What are their names? For the birth certificates?"

Solo looked at his wife, who had lapsed into sleep. He turned back. "I wanna wait till she's awake."

The doctor nodded, wishing to leave this room. But he would stay, enduring the agony of his conscience, as if in atonement for the loss of the child.

Leia slowly opened her eyes, bringing herself back into the conscious world. She felt little better than she did the last time she was awake...but at least it was over now. Han was standing over her and it was quiet again...and now they had a child--

Wait. They said twins...they had twins. She could barely believe that. Leia was just glad that they had been safe, though she had been unconscious during the surgery that removed them from her. She wanted to see them.

"Han?" She said softly. "Where are they?"

A wave of relief washed over Han as Leia finally came around. He felt the slight twitching of her hand and looked downward into her chocolate brown eyes, now staring back at him.

He smiled. The realization that he was a father was slowly beginning to sink in. But for the most part, he still couldn't believe it. And to have twins on top of everything. How was that possible? It must be a thing that runs in the Skywalker family.

Then another realization hit him like a 10 ton brick of duracrete - they had lost one. His son. The shock of this news was almost as overpowering as the announcement that they had had twins. How would Leia react?

Han studied her still pale face, the smile fading from his features. She looked so innocent, calm and relaxed at this moment that he wasn't sure if he could bring himself to tell her.

Not tell her...

That could work. Solo, you're a genius!

Leia's hand twitched again and she opened her mouth to speak. "Han?" "Where are they?"

Han's smile returned. "You'll see them in a minute, sweetheart. The doctor's checkin' them over." He squeezed her hand once again.

Even in her dampened awareness, Leia could always see through a lie her husband was telling. It was as clear as a Coruscantian crystal, and even though he always believed it could pass for truth, it never did.

"H-han," She started, half-scared of hearing the answer. "Where are they?"

Leia knew something was going wrong before she fell from consciousness. The doctor even seemed worried. Leia, she thought. You're just getting overly worried.

"Are they ok? I want to see them."

She was starting to get suspicious - definitely not a good sign. Although, Han had nothing to worry about at the moment. What he did tell her concerning the twins was true. The doctor was with them. The third, on the other hand...

He smiled and gently stroked a strand of long hair away from her face. "You'll see them, don't worry," he soothed.

Almost as if he needed to convince himself that everything was indeed alright, he turned and shot a long glance to the doctor.

The stoudt man nodded his head almost on cue and waddled over to a nurse. A short conversation was exchanged and then they parted, the doctor heading over to a small cubicle and leaning his body over to reach into it. Han thought the man was going to tip over from the uneven distribution of weight.

Much to Han's surprise, the doctor kept his balance and stayed on his feet. Standing upright once more, he came up holding two wrapped bundles in the nook of his arm. A large smile was spread from cheek to cheek, making his face look even more bloated.

Squeezing Leia's hand once more, Han focused his gaze back on his wife. She was straining to see what he had been looking at but Han rested his free hand on her shoulder, urging her to lay back down. "They're coming," he said, simply.

This time Leia did smile as the doctor approached the side of the bed. He stood over husband and wife and lowered the two bundles to the bed. "Here they are, Mom and Dad."

Hearing himself being called dad for the first time forced another smile to form over Han Solo's face.

Leia turned her head to look down at the new arrivals. She felt tears draining out of her eyes. Gods, they tried to kill me... She thought with a mental smirk. Leia found it hard to believe that the children she was seeing had been born by her; she found it completely unfathomable.

She finally saw the result of months of pain, and she realized how much it was worth it. Leia looked up at her husband, eyes still engulfed with tears. It took her a few moments to gather he words together. "D-did you name them yet?" She asked mildly, reaching a hand out for the young kids.

Something was bugging her, though, at the back of her mind. Even in the joy of the moment, she could still see that something was a miss...something was hovering above like a storm cloud. Something was wrong...but Leia dismissed it as she rubbed her little finger over the baby's nose.

One of the infants, the girl, cooed slightly as Leia brushed her finger across her tiny face. Well, at least Han thought it was the girl. They both looked almost exactly the same as far as he could tell.

Both were born with a full head of dark hair that was very reminiscent of both their mother and father. Their mouths and noses were small in comparison to the size of their chubby faces and their eyes were closed. It may be some time yet till he was able to tell what color they were.

In response to the child's gibberish, Leia continued to poke at her nose. Han watched and just smiled down at the two small beings before him - his kids - no, their kids.

Finally, he reached forward and gently lifted the boy from Leia's lap. Cradling him in his arms, Han gazed down into the small boy's face with a new sense of pride.

"No..." he half mumbled, finally remembering Leia's question. "Not yet." Tearing his gaze away from his son, he looked back into the eyes of his wife. "I wanted to wait for you."

Luke pushed past the orderlies. “Have fun?” Luke smiled at Leia. They had been through many adventures together but childbirth was the biggest. And Luke liked to think that he helped.

Leia smiled, searching Han's eyes, as if to look for what names he had in mind. "Then we should do that," She said as she sat up slightly.

It was a bit awkward to imagine her husband holding the youngling within his arms, but it looked right. It wasn't something she ever imagined, but...it looked right. She didn't have any more worries about what was to come. They would survive throughout this whole war - together.

She cocked her head slightly to the sight of her brother pushing through the various personnel as he made his way into the recovery room. She couldn't help but smile more.

"Have fun?" He beamed.

Leia continued smiling and reached out a hand to rest on Luke's. "Better than fun. I had a miracle."

Leia’s hand came to rest on Luke’s “"Better than fun. I had a miracle." She replied.
“Well we were all here beside you.” Luke turned to Han and frowned slightly, “There is a Tanya Haynes outside that wants to see you Han, I told her to wait.”

There was a slight commotion going on behind Han, but for the moment, he didn't care. All that mattered was his wife and their two newborns.

"Then we should do that," Leia said, now sitting up.

Han smiled again, tearing his gaze away from the small boy to look back upon Leia. "You have any ideas?" he questioned, obviously still clueless on the subject.

Before Leia could reply, something - or someone brushed past Han's arm. He turned as fast as he could, careful not to disturb the small bundle in his arms, to see Luke, now standing beside the bed.

Han nodded in greeting and watched in silence as he allowed brother and sister to have a moment to themselves. Everything seemed complete now that Luke was present. Sure, the kid could be annoying sometimes, but it would be wrong to leave him out of this. Afterall, they were all family.

After exchanging a few words with Leia, Luke's gaze fell on Han. At first, the kid looked amused - probably because him, of all people, standing here holding a newborn child. He still couldn't believe it himself, but somehow it felt right.

However, that amused look quickly turned to a frown. Han raised his brow in question.

“There is a Tanya Haynes outside that wants to see you Han, I told her to wait.”

Han frowned as well. "Did she say what she wanted?" He glanced down at the child again. "I'm kinda busy."

It was always something. He could never be left alone - even when his wife was in the maternity giving birth. He couldn't have two minutes with his newborn children before someone came along calling his name.

He exchanged glances with Leia before turning back to Luke.

Great. Leaving again.

The happiness Leia was holding soon turned to dread. She could barely believe that some other random person was going to draw them apart once again, especially at a moment like this! Never a moment's piece, ever.

She sighed and layed back again, closing her eyes. Oh well, the mother was tired anyway. Leia thought she deserved her rest by now. The chances were that Han would be back by the time she awoke anyway, so she didn't really worry about it.

She just hoped this Tayna wasn't a bearer of bad news...Leia didn't want bad news. They'd had enough bad news and she was sick of it. For now, it was somewhat serene and calm. Leia didn't want it stirred up again.

She adjusted her position and quietly fell asleep.

Han's brow creased in a mix of confusion and anger. "My job?" he stuttered.

That was the last straw. He was going to talk to this woman. Who did she think she was anyway - asking for his job at the exact moment his wife goes in to give birth? It sounded like it was all planned. Now who wanted his head up on the high council?

Turning, he set the small infant in his arms back down on Leia's lap, barely taking notice that Leia had fallen asleep. His mind was too focused on this new development and his eyes glazed over with anger for him to really take notice of such things.

"I'll be right back," he uttered to Luke, his voice dangerously low.

In a huff, Han stormed out of the maternity to meet this Tanya person. She was definitely going to hear a piece of his mind.

Tanya was waiting for him when Han stormed out, she raised a hand to stop him before he spoke, “Yes, to answer your question, I am taking over.”

Han sneered at the woman as she shoved her hand in his face. He could feel his face beginning to flush - this may not turn out pretty.

"You can't just take over!" he spat at her. "I'm not planning to step down anytime soon and you don't have the authority to push me out!"

Leia's brown eyes once again slid open, but nearly closed again due to the bright light. At last, she was finally feeling the strength to be getting a little more active. She had fallen asleep again, Han was probably--wait...

Han isn't even here... She realized as she sat up. Great! Not even one minute alone to pick the kids' names, for the gods sakes! She mentally grumbled. She turned her head towards the other man standing in a room. Luke.

"L-luke," She said, finding her voice still weak. "Where's Han?" She asked, holding out a hand towards him. It was time for her to get up.

Leia awoke slowly and asked “L-luke, where is Han? She held out her hand so Luke could help her up. Luke took it and carefully helped Leia out of bed, “Han is sorting out something important, someone is after his job.”

Leia sighed heavily.

Even when their children were just born, Han couldn't spare one minute away from the Alliance? It wasn't like Leia didn't understand how much the Alliance meant to them - she was probably the one whom did most. However, there was a time to devote to her. And to their new family.

She looked back towards Luke as he spoke, steadying herself as she took to her feet. "Who's after his job?" She said, slightly confused.

Luke turned to his sister and smiled, “some arrogant woman named Tanya.”

Out in the corridor.
“General Solo the council has doubts about your leadership skill. They believe that you are too blasé and head strong to be able to take the time to think about things properly.” Tanya said.
Han opened his mouth to object.
“Don’t bother Solo,” Tanya interjected, “Your place is on the battlefield, not in an office. Go back to your wife. You’re a General now.”

Just wanted to reopen this to tie up some loose strings between Han and Leia.

If looks could kill, Tanya Haines would be a dead corpse lying upon the medical bay floor at this moment. Han was anything but amused by the news she had just delivered to him. Taking his job under the council's orders...just who do they think they were anyway? After everything he'd done for the Alliance, they turn around and dump a load of mynock shit on his head.

No matter. What did he care anyway? Afterall, he even told Leia upon accepting the Commander in Chief position that it wasn't for him. But it was just the fact of someone pushing him around that he didn't like. He had a very bad feeling that he and Tanya would be butting heads a lot in the future.

Han sighed heavily, shoving his hands into his pockets as Tanya retreated down the corridor and disappeared through the doors to the med bay.

Just let it go...you have other things to worry about at the moment.

Turning on his heel, he returned to Leia's room. Much to his surprise, she found her not only awake, but standing on her feet. He swallowed for a moment before rushing over to her, resting one hand on the small of her back for support.

"What're you doing up?" he inquired. "Shouldn't you be resting?" His eyes made a quick sweep of the small sterile room before resting back on his wife. "And what about the kids?"

Leia couldn't help but smirk as Han seemed to act like she was about to collapse under her own weight. She had been standing and moving fine for a few minutes, talking to Luke and thinking to herself about what had transpired.

"It's ok," She reassured, grasping his hand and moving it away from her back. "The medical droids took them to run a few tests, make sure they're fine...stuff like that."

Leia watched her husband's eyes and watched the worry that was obviously there drain away. But there was something else.

"What happened?" Leia asked.

Glancing up at Leia then over to Luke, Han just shrugged. Might as well get it off his chest. "They took my job," he mumbled. "Well, not like I really wanted it anyway. "

He stepped closer to Leia, looking into her eyes before sitting down on the bed. "So, how long did they say they'd have 'em?" He quickly changed the subject back to the twins. No sense in arguing about it.

Leia totally ignored the last thing he said. "Lost your job?!" She yelled in a hoarse voice. "Why?!"

It was ridiculous to imagine someone could replace him, especially someone she didn't even know about. She hadn't been out of the loop that long. Han must have done something to get booted out of the position; there was no other reason.

Han sighed, rubbing a hand over his face. He knew he should have explained it better. It was typical of Leia to blow things out of proportion. "No, not lost my job," he corrected her. "More like got pushed down a few spots."

He lifted his head, looking back up at her. Now, let's try this again...

"What about the twins? How long they keeping 'em?" he prodded again.

"They're fine, Han," She sighed, her face losing its urgentness for a moment. The thought of the two little babies brought joy to her heart for a moment, but she still couldn't understand what the problem was with Han's leadership. Leia thought he had done a great job, if not suprising to her.

"Now," She asked, allowing her tone to become more serious. "Who took it? Why? What's going on?" Leia started, probably beginning a game of Ryloth 20 Questions.

"It's not that important, okay?" he mumbled with a grimace. "We have other things to worry about. Can't we just drop this for now?"

This was one thing Han never could understand. She always blamed him for heading out to do work or worrying about his job over other things when in fact, she was doing the same exact thing to him. The twins came first in his mind and some pompous woman coming in to take his job wasn't going to change that.

A thousand questions ran through Leia's mind, but her husband's tone told her that she should just drop it, for now anyway. "Fine," She muttered. "Then, the twins..."

There was one other thing the doctors had asked. They wanted to know the names of the new arrivals, and until now Leia had either been unconscious or without enough time to talk it over with Han. "What are we going to name them?" She asked quietly.

Han blew out a sigh in relief. It was about time she stopped hounding him and turned to something more important. Although, what she did mention made him tense up again.

He didn't like to admit it, but in all reality, he had been avoiding that very question. "Name them?" he muttered in an almost stupid tone. Changing his position on the bed, he turned his body so that he could look directly at her. "I was hopin' you had some ideas," he added with a smirk.

Leia shook her head. "Nothing that I really decided on, I don't like any of them." She said with a smirk.

Han's loss of command was still in the back of her mind. The time would come when she would undoubtedly get a field day with questioning him about it, but the tone, for now, was warm and soft. She looked up as the medical droid brought the twins back in, the babies laying on a small cart bundled in blankets.

"Well, I guess we have to decide quickly," She said, looking back at Han.

Reaching toward the small cart which housed the twins, Han lifted his daughter into his arms and moved the blanket away from her face. She squirmed slightly, but her eyes remained closed.

Even with her being this tiny, the little girl reminded Han of Leia with her dark hair and round face. Han smiled again and touched her nose, causing her to squirm once again.

"I guess so," he said quietly, finally remembering Leia's words. Tipping his head up slightly away from the small bundle, he glanced over at his wife. "Never thought it'd be this hard, though. Wrestling gundarks would probably be easier."

Leia smiled at the thought of her husband getting so soft. It wasn't a side she'd seen much, but she knew it was always there, hidden by his own concerns. She had always seen it as rather obvious, but for some reason she appeared to be the only one that could.

Watching him cradle the child, she began to speak. "Yes," She said, still smiling. "But we're going to have to do it eventually....unless you want to give them numbers."

Han gently poked at the small child in his arms again, prompting her to coo this time. But it didn't stop there. Almost as if he had popped the cork on a bottle of fine Corellian whiskey, the small girl erupted in a fit of crying.

Grimacing and throwing a innocent glance toward Leia that seemed to convey that it wasn't his fault, he set the child back into her mother's arms. "There," he yelled over the piercing cries. "You can have her! And as far as the names are concerned, I'll settle for the numbers..."

Leia groaned slightly as she was forced to hold the screaming infant. "I guess they want names," She smiled. "I admit, I was thinking of some names," The mother confirmed.

"I think you should be Jaina," She said, poking the small nose of the baby with her own.

Han's raised his brow slightly. "Jaina?" he rolled the name over his tongue a few times and decided that it had a nice ring to it. He could definitely imagine his little girl growing up with that name - it fit her.

Now for the boy...

Wincing at the piercing screams still emitting from Jaina's mouth, Han lowered his gaze to the young boy nestled in the crook of Leia's arm. Compared to his sister, he was quiet and seemed fairly content with his current situation.

Han stiffled another smirk. "Jonash," he finally blurted out.
