I seem to be finding more than one occasion during which someone shoots a Hutt in the head and they die.

Wookieepedia on Hutts
Quote:
Their thick, sweaty skin and the heavy layer of fat beneath it served an evolutionary role, maintaining their body temperature, and it also made them impervious to many blaster bolts, most vibroblades and some chemicals.

I would think that under those circumstances, it would take more to kill a Hutt than some people are doing.

Im not really sure the information in the quote would apply to a direct hit to the head. Confused

Quote:
Perhaps most remarkably of all, Hutts could even regenerate body-parts when injured. Some time prior to 31 BBY, Gargonn lost half his head, including an eye and apparently a sizeable part of his brain, when he was savaged by a wandrella, but it was anticipated that he would regenerate the injured tissue completely after a century or so.

I'd say that warrents surviving a direct shot to the head.

One shot to the head can't be more deadly than loosing a 'sizeable part' of the brain.

If you read the Jedi Apprentice series, you will notice that Jemba the Hutt was shot once in the chest by a blaster bolt and died instantly.

Also, James was using lead projectiles not blaster beams, thus the penetration would be greater Wink

That still doesn't discount the fact that a Hutt can loose a large chunk of its brain and survive, which I think would cause a lot more damage than any one shot to the head by a hand gun.

And I havn't read the Jedi Apprentice series. Even if that did happen, we can't use it as a standard for a 'one shot one kill' policy on Hutts considering what Wookieepedia.

Yeah if you can lose half your head and survive I would think that a "lead projectile" would do far less damage, unless it happened to hit the heart buried under all that fat and other organs and like hit a vital part of it. >_>

Hutts are very hard to kill via blaster/vibro, which is why Leia straggled Jabba.

No they don't.

At least, there's a possibility they don't.

Quote:
Hutts were hermaphroditic, usually being regarded as 'male'; if a Hutt was identified as a female in Basic, it usually indicated that it was gestating an offspring. There is some scant evidence that Hutts had further gender roles amongst themselves, but it is not clear exactly how these were defined. Also, although it is said in some sources that all Hutts posessed male and female reproductive organs, it is not clear whether two biological parents were necessary.

Moving on from the graphic images ...

You obviously don't know how a pistol works. It fires out a superheated lead projectile at about 1,150 feet per second.

The projectile, while travelling at that speed, impacted the Hutt's thick hide, which incidentally isn't the reason why it can survive a direct hit from a blaster.

Wikipedia wrote:
skin is extremely thick, and when combined with their redundant organs and tough flesh, can result in Hutts being able to survive direct blaster fire hits

Quote:

I'd say a brain hardly qualifies as redundant, wouldn't you.

And your mention of a Hutts head being torn off is also redundant, as I'm pretty sure the thing's teeth weren't travelling at 1,150 feet per second, and i'm also sure they weren't superheated.

The bullet alone would have cooked the Hutt's brain. Not to mention that this Hutt was obviously very young, perhaps only a hundred years old. You can tell this by the fact that it was alone on a backwater planet rather than higher. Which means that it's hide would be comparitively thin. Which in turn would mean that the bullet may even continue through its head and out the other side.

Do you know what happens when someone get shot in the head? Guess not, well I'll tell you. The vacuum created behind the bullet by the speed it is travelling at causes the brain to be sucked out through the exit wound. I would think that it is kinda hard for any species to live through that.

See you in VIII.
